GadgetLust: The WalkStation

Ever since I read about Jason Calacanis and his fatblogging adventures, and his homemade workstation with a treadmill underneath, I have had an increasing lust for one of these – I think they are a BRILLIANT idea.  I am SO sedentary.  I sit here all day and type.  Yeah, I get up to take care of my basic needs, and maybe I get up a little more than the average office person (feed animals, clean house, do kid stuff), but for the most part, I am sedentary.

Now, these real mobile workstations are starting to come out on the market.  For the ripe price of $4,000, you can buy a Walkstation from Details:

This one you can buy at Crate & Barrel furniture locations.  Here is hoping that the other brands follow this trend closely and are developing their own.  If you see one for under $1000, please let me know.  My husband thinks I am nuts, but I would get one of these in a heartbeat if I could.

Check out this article from the NYT today on work-walking.  Good stuff!

  1. Hi Christina!

You can make your own treadmill desk for well under $1000. I got my treadmill free from a guy at church, so I have a total of $25 in my setup.

  2. @ Brad Rhoads:

Thanks for the info! I was looking at that group earlier - I will take the plunge. I really REALLY want one of these. Bad.

  3. That’s a fabulous idea. Especially for those of us who are chained to the computer.
