From Beautyfix 1: Amarté Aqua Veil Pure Hydration Serum

I have a really hard time choosing my favorite product in this issue of Beautyfix, I honestly do.  There are several really innovative products in here, and not only innovative, but truly effective as well.   So, I am going to start off with Amarté Aqua Veil Pure Hydration Serum, as one of my very favorite products in the first Beautyfix.

First off, a little about Amarté, the brand:  Amarté is a skin care and cosmetics manufacturer, founded in 1994 in South Korea.  Amarté has partnered with KAIST University (Korea’s MIT) in order to ensure that their products are innovative and effective.  They manufacture skin and hair products and some color cosmetics and are represented in the United States by Amarté USA, which is based in San Francisco.  You probably haven’t heard of Amarté yet, but you will soon. 

This Amarte Aqua Veil Pure Hydration Serum is not your ordinary moisturizer OR your ordinary serum.  It is a humectant, meaning that it attracts water.  The first thing you will notice when you squirt some out of the packaging is that it feels different - silicone-y, not water based/creamy like other moisturizers.  Then when you apply it to your face, it really is different.  It almost instantly absorbs totally into your skin.  It almost turns watery, and then disappears completely.  Nifty. 

Now, because this product is a humectant, it is really not meant to be used alone, but in fact, under another moisturizer.  That way it will really work to pull the good stuff right into your skin.  A person with oily skin can wear this alone and get enough moisture though – for that reason, I really like the way it works down here in the hotbox known as Texas.  Plenty of moisture for it to absorb here. 

The smell of this serum is fabulous – it smells like cucumbers.  I love that fresh smell – in general I am not a big fan of food smells in my cosmetics, but cucumber I do like a lot.
