Much Work To Be Done

Well, its been a wacky week or two.  I quit smoking for the last time (ahem, those who know me know I have quit many-a-time) on January 8th.  Then on or around the 12th, I got sooooooooo sick.  The worst. cold. ever.   Some say I am detoxing, but whatever it was, I felt like big time crap.  I rarely have to take a day off, since I work from home, but it was *that* bad last week.  A day in the bed was necessary. I still have an enormous headache – the right side of my face is just swollen and tender from sinus goo, but its getting better.  The bright side is:

11 days, 17 hours, 10 minutes and 5 seconds smoke free.
351 cigarettes not smoked.

$81.00 and 2 days, 16 hours of your life saved.

Sweet.  Im using the good ol nicotine patch, if anyone wants to know.  Mom quit yesterday, for the first time that I am aware of – so good luck Mom!  She said it was like losing your best friend – and she’s is so right.  But I read this little thing this morning:  Quitting smoking is like killing your best friend – but kill her before she kills you (cause she will!)!  Check out QuitNet if you want to – its good for motivation and shooting the breeze while you’re trying to do something – anything – other than smoke.

So now Im getting all healthy.  I am thinking really seriously of going on the Master Cleanse.  I feel like I have so much gunk inside me that I would love to get out – think that will do it?   Think the Master Cleanse is a bunch of hooey?  It couldn’t hurt, I figure.  I wonder if it would help get this painful mucus out of my head.  I have taken everything in the house trying to get rid of it, and nothing works.  I have talked to quite a few people in my MRSA journey who have used detoxifying diets/fasts and have made real progress in fighting their infections and even cancer in some cases so I have a tendency to believe that all this processed crap we put in our bodies is pretty harmful.  And I would like to get it out.  I can hear Hsien now - “Quackery!”  LOL  Well, we will see.

/me runs to the store for organic lemons and maple syrup

Quack.

  1. I just quit smoking for the last time also, on Dec 29th. :-) Congratulations and keep up the good work.

I’ve done the master cleanse 2x and I absolutely swear by it. The first time I did a 14 day cleanse, and felt like I had the flu for the first 2 days, but after that I was fine. I did it because I was feeling like you…just full of gunk, lethargic, etc. I felt absolutely amazing when i was done. I highly recommend it. It’s tough to stay on it, but If you can give up cigs you can definitely do this…giving up the cigarettes are way harder.

I suffered from chronic sinusitis, seasonal allergies, and just general sinus annoyance for years after moving from NY to Atlanta. I started using Sinol Allergy Relief daily about a year ago, and I haven’t needed a prescription, a nose drop or any allergy relief medicine since. I couldn’t find it at the store, so I bought it online at their website sinolusa.com. I wasn’t looking for all natural, just something that worked, I guess for me it’s an added bonus that it’s good for me.

Wishing you ALL THE BEST in your smoke free, cleansed future. ;-)

    Donna

  2. Wow Donna - thanks so much for the comment! You sound just like me, all the way down to the seasonal goo. Big congrats to you on quitting smoking too. I am glad to hear that the MC isn’t worse than quitting smoking. :) I have just about decided to give it a try. I couldn’t feel much worse than I do right now with this gnarly headache. Best of luck to you!!! xoxox

  3. I don’t smoke but all of my close family and… actually most of my friends do. So I know how hard it is to give up smoking because all of them tried to and I witnessed their sufferings :-( But to my great regret none who I know ever stuck to their decision and would always start smoking again… :-( my stepdad went back to smoking even though once one of his lungs failed and he ended up in the ER… So hold on no matter how hard it is! Don’t give up! It will do so much good to your health (and skin!!!)!!!

  4. Hi BeautyTalk - it is so tough. I have tried to quit probably about 8 times, all with varying degrees of success. I have been quit 2 weeks today, and not only has it not been hard, I really don’t think I am going back this time. I know I cannot just smoke one, and I don’t want to even smoke one. It is the feeling I have always prayed for - I just don’t want to smoke anymore at all. Hallelujah! :) Thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it so much. :)
