Who Cares If You Have Wrinkles Or Not If You’re Dead.

So this is me, pulling it together.  I promised myself that I was going to get back to normal today, so here goes my best effort. Apologies for those who are tired of my whiny getting healthy posts. ;)

I have been “gone” from blogging for a couple of weeks now – for the most part anyway.  I am on day 25 of the quitting smoking thing, and as I have moaned about before, it is really hard to continue doing some of the things that you related with smoking – and for me, that is sitting here at the computer surfing and blogging.  As it has been the last few weeks, I like to get my work here done and get out of my office and do something different. But, this is what I do, so I am doing it.  Ha ha. :)

Another great for me, but hard, thing I have been doing this past week is exercising.  I have been up every morning and out the door for 30 min of walking/jogging/sprinting at 5:45 am.  I didn’t go Sunday, but other than that, I have been on the program since last Wednesday.   Go me.  I read somewhere that if you exercise first thing in the morning that you don’t have so many carbohydrates to burn up before you start burning fat (since you haven’t eaten in 9-12 hrs), so early morning it is.  At least until I get some of this fat burnt off anyway.

Why all this lifestyle changing, you ask?  Well, as they say, your body falls apart at 40.   Ha.  And it proved true for me.  I woke up 25 days ago and felt crappy, and had a horrific blood pressure (175/120), and I quit smoking that afternoon.  I went to the doc last week for a check up, and everything is out of control.  Blood pressure (which is significantly better already after quitting smoking), cholesterol, and my blood glucose levels.  All these go hand in hand when letting your body slip into this super unhealthy diabetic state, and I decided I am going to get a grip on it.  Finally.  It is rare (maybe not so rare as hard to do and not many folks make the effort) but you can get your body working right again, and Im going to try my hardest to do it.

I have been thinking so much lately about how good care I take of my outsides – my face is pretty wrinkle free, I am diligent about washing my face morning and night, my hair is conditioned and healthy – but I have always done poorly on the insides.  I guess that’s totally normal, but who cares if you have wrinkles or not if you’re dead?
