Baby Quasar: Light Therapy for the Skin Problems That Ail You
Home light therapy for your skin is an extremely hot and popular service right now. You can go to the dermatologist and pay out the wazoo for this service which can now, effectively, be done at home. I have, in the past, tried out several other brands of equipment, but all pale in comparison to the big papa of them all – the Baby Quasar.
Light therapy has, for a fairly long time now, been realized as an effective treatment for many body related issues – from acne and aging to jaundice and Seasonal Affective Disorder. For those of us concerned about our skin, light therapy can smooth wrinkles and lines, diminish discoloration, fade scarring, reduce pore size, increase circulation and clear up acne. That pretty much sounds like the be-all-end-all, doesn’t it?
So, is it effective? My opinion is – yes. I have been using the red light therapy for its anti aging benefits, for about 2 months now, and I honestly do think that, with regular usage, it has made my skin look markedly better. As you have probably heard me whine about (ad nauseum, I know), I turned 40 this year, and while I have been pretty dedicated to anti aging skin care since I turned 18, I still have had some fine lines and even a (gasp) wrinkle or two encroach on my face. I also have a little bit of acne scarring and discoloration from the dreaded sun. But after using the Baby Quasar faithfully 3 times a week for 2 months, I can definitely say that my face has a softer overall look. The big wrinkle (gash) on my forehead is still there shining back at me – it is not gone completely by any means – but honestly my whole face does look softer and less wrinkley – almost like a soft focus lens has been applied. Good stuff.
To increase the anti aging benefits of the red light therapy, you can apply your favorite creams or serums to your face before using the light – and this is a technique I really think is effective. The only caveat there is to use something that doesn’t have any pigment to it that could interfere with the light reaching your skin. I have been using Lisa Hoffman Beauty’s Vitamin A&C Serum with mine (available in this season’s Beautyfix! Sorry, shameless plug there…) – it is a clear serum that addresses the same issues that I am trying to address with the light therapy. Honestly, I think it is working fantastic for me.
I have also been using the Blue Baby Quasar for acne on the opposite days of using the red light therapy – and there is where the results are even more dramatic. As you probably also know about me by now, I have battled adult acne for about the last 11 years. I always have a spot or two on my face that I am dealing with. I can absolutely say without a doubt that there has been a dramatic change in my acne problem. I almost never have a pimple anymore. Amazing.
So – the Baby Quasar is an investment for sure. The red light alone will run you $449 at Amazon. But, they also sell the Baby Quasar Power Pack, which contains both the red and the blue light, for $699. If you are younger and battling teen acne, you might just want the blue light - the blue light alone is available for $350. With the purchase of the Baby Quasar, you can probably cut back on some of the skin care lotion and potion spending as well. It is an investment, but quite honestly, it is one I would make again.
