Let’s Talk About Me

me2010 I am still battling the same ol beauty issues as I have been whining about for the last 6 or so years online, plus some new ones.  Maybe someone can identify with me.

  • I still have ADULT ACNE.  This is a curse for something horrible I have done in the past, I am sure.
  • I am 42.  Nuff said.
  • The Grand Canyon has moved onto my forehead.  I am seriously considering Botox (this is a big change from the past).
  • I have some funky dry eczema-ish funk that shows up under my eyes – I think when I am stressed out.
  • I still have a wretched dry patch under my nose, over my upper lip, from that *&%%$&*^ at Trish McEvoy who used beta hydroxy pads to remove my makeup and burnt the crap out of my skin ABOUT THREE YEARS AGO.  I could beat that little &%^^%$# to a pulp.  Thank God it didn’t affect more of my skin.
  • I have quit smoking cigarettes and have traded them in for e-cigarettes.  Some of you fine folks will not call that quitting smoking, but I am on super low nicotine, and I am completely rid of tar, those other 59,999 chemicals in cigarettes, and my husband encourages me to “vape” because it’s like smoking air freshener and smells so great (I am addicted to cinnamon flavoring now).  I’m not really sure why I need to go down to zero nicotine.  As of today, I have been cigarette free for 79 days - with the exception of a few cigs I have smoked while drinking at bars. Go me.
  • I’m still fat as a rat.  I have lost about 30 pounds over the last year, but would sure like to lose about 30 more.  I have been gaining and losing the same 10 pounds for the last 6 months or so.  NEED MOTIVATION.

The good stuff:

  • I REALLY try to take care of my skin.  I try REALLY hard to wash my face every night before bed and do one (or more) of a zillion treatments I keep around the house to battle all my skin yuckiness.
  • I am way into coconut oil at the moment.  I think it has made a big difference in my skin.  I would like to swim around in a vat of it about once a day.
  • I am also way into my Baby Quasar.  Between the red and blue light, it is helping my giant pores and I think its tackling that damned McEvoy skin problem.

Sad how there is lots more bad stuff than good stuff, but oh well, I am a girl, and this is how it is.

What I am using now:

  • Skin care:  Clean and Clear wash and toner – trade off with Neutrogena products.  Trying to kill these zits with as much nasty powered stuff as I can.  PCA acne creams.  Coconut oil as moisturizer, traded off with Bioelements Sleepwear (and SW for eyes), and sometimes a variety of gunk for the Grand Canyon.  Not addicted to anything for the canyon just yet.
  • Makeup:  Always has been and always will be MAC for my eyes.  They even have mascara I like pretty well now.  Still loving CoverGirl Outlast or Max Factor Lipfinity (if I can find it) on my lips.  And Dazzleglass.  LOVE Dazzleglass.  Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals for foundation and contouring, Touche Eclat for highlighting.  Usually just use a bronzer (assorted) on my cheeks.
  • Body:  Coconut oil (where is that VAT?)
  • Hair:  I am trying to go mostly shampooless for my hair.  I wash it with conditioner usually – Paul Mitchell Super Charged Conditioner or Mane and Tail.  Sometimes rinse with vinegar and sometimes kill it with coconut oil.  I use shampoo after color treatment (Wella professional), and probably about once every two weeks when I feel it really needs a scrubbing.  I just use whatever I have in shampoo.  As always.  Never have been into spending a bunch of money on shampoo.

Ok, enough talking about me for now.  You have anything amazing I need to try?  Let me know!!!

  1. Great, I’m not the only one suffering from this adult acne shit.

  2. I REALLY think that being smoke free for 79 days, and now on super-low nicotine merits being in the good stuff section!! Hell yeah, go you! We quit for 18 months . . . and then started the damn things again. *sigh*

  3. Hi,

This is my first time visiting your bog and I have to say I love how honest you are. I would like to share some beauty ideas with you that you can try and see if they work for you.

When trying to loose weight, drink apple cider vinegar with apple juice. Apple cider vinegar is a great way to help you loose those extra pounds and help you feel more energized while helping your body in many different ways. Some people suggest sipping on it throughout the day or right before you eat. Whichever way you take it, don’t expect a rapid weight loss, the weight will be lost gradually, as it should be to allow the body’s fat cells to adjust to their new size.

With your adult acne, have you tried some home rememedies such as baking soda and water, letting the paste sit on your face for about 20 mins or so then rinse with cold water, it helps shrink acne. Depending on your skin type, honey and yogart with non-coated asprin work wonders! If you have dry skin, try an avacado and honey mask it is really hydrating.

Well, I hope this helps and you can always go to Google and look up home remedies for particular issues.I wish you the best of luck!

  4. I have been eliminating lots of fats from my diet. I watch my food intake which has a high correlation to diet. Also, I’ve found that if I keep my hands out of my face it helps. A way you can tell if the hand factor is affecting you is to notice where the bumps are. Mine were around the chin area exactly where I place my hand sometimes.
I’ve gone back to my Mary Kay Regime and that has really helped. But I’m not here to sell Mary Kay.
